We hope this finds you well. Pats on the back all around for making it through January!
Today whilst working we had the sun on our faces, albeit briefly! The daffodils are pushing through with snowdrops in tow and the first feelings of “Spring is on its way” are with us.
We were really hoping to have a clearer idea by now of how things may play out this year, but as I am sure you are aware, like the rest of the country we’re still very much in the dark. Hope however is on the horizon! With the national roll-out of the vaccine we are positively looking forward to the coming year, we genuinely cannot wait to welcome folks back to the farm.
But, let’s face it, I think we are all thinking the same. Things aren’t going to go straight back to pre-pandemic ways. Or they might! Who knows? But realistically they’re probably not. So, it’s time to start planning…
Currently, the best-case scenario for all of us would see the farm able to have 100 people outside or 50 inside when we are at level 1. https://gov.wales/sites/default/files/publications/2020-12/alert-levels-in-wales-simple-guide.pdf
For some of you guys this is more than were going to attend your wedding anyway. For a lot of you however, it means drastically reducing your guest list. We always try to look on the bright side, but at the same time remain realistic. It is time to think about what you really want for your wedding day, and plan perhaps with variable numbers in mind.
What we can update you with, with certainty, is what we have been up to…
It has been a challenging year, for everyone! and we’ve been working hard to adapt to the ever-changing rules & regulations. However, since March 2020, we have kept ourselves busy completing the Courtyard area around the new Pole Barn.
Our long-term plans have always been to create a space as beautiful as the meadow tipi, but resilient to any-and-all weather situations, and adaptable to whatever the Welsh climate can throw at us, because it does! We’re super excited to show you what we’ve done.
Almost half of the glazed side of the pole barn now opens onto the courtyard to give an inside/outside experience. A covered walkway in front of the new toilet and shower block leads to our new, permanent outdoor fire kitchen, where we will cook all the wedding food in front of you. The spiral stair ascends to the grass roof above with a new playground, glass balustrading and fantastic views over the valley. The third side of the courtyard is completed with our new open sided tipi. We are keeping a giant Tipi up in the meadow field, renamed the star gazers platform! Our idea being that you would have your ceremony in the walled garden, with canapes to follow. Your Wedding breakfast would then be served from the new outdoor fire kitchen. after your food in the yard, or before, or whenever you wanted! You would be free to wander up and enjoy the space and views. Sat on hay bale furniture, playing outdoor games or chilling around the fire pits you and your wedding party can enjoy a cocktail or two watching the sun set. evening reception would then follow in the pole barn.
We believe we have created an all-encompassing space that, whilst still including the meadow tipi, now offers so much more. Entirely adaptable to any ideas, wants or weather! Fully embracing the experience you would want when choosing to get married at our farm.
For those of you that haven’t had one already, we’re still hoping to hold a wedding taster. It may not be in the traditional sense, but we’ve got a few ideas up our sleeves. Throughout lockdowns #1 #2 and #3 we’ve been running a successful takeout from the new fire kitchen. One thing we do have is space! (think drive through pick-ups, picnics, and socially distanced tours!…) All things being well we will find a way! We will be in touch with those couples, as and when the restrictions ease.
We understand it is a worrying time for you all. This uncertainty is hard! Please remember we are here for you if you have any further questions and as soon as we know more, we will be in touch.
For now, happy planning. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Stay safe
All the best
Eleanor, Rob, Simone & Roger
